Coffee Spills

What I hear and see and think about at the coffee shops I patronize.
Brisk. Fresh. Well-balanced. Occasional nutty and bittersweet overtones.
If you got here from my profile, you probably need to visit my main blog, Collecting My Thoughts which is updated every day.

Music for my ears and soul

This morning at the coffee shop I was introduced to the music of Il Divo. Wow. That beats anything I've heard recently. Adult music. What a concept.

Basics of Blogging

This week I'm teaching a class on blogging at the coffee house here at Lakeside, the only local business with wi-fi. Yesterday we had 4 would-be bloggers. Three just want to chat, and one wants to do it for business. Coffee and company is great.

Where did daddy go?

For his generation, my husband was a hands-on-dad--that meant he knew how to bathe, feed and diaper, but when I went to the grocery store I'd still ask him to "babysit." Beginning in the late 70s-early 80s I began to see men who could carry a diaper bag, hand off the kid to his buddy and wipe the spit-up off his shoulder.

I see a lot of dads here at Lakeside on vacation pushing strollers at dawn so mom can sleep in. They stop here at the coffee shop, settle in at an outside table, pull out banana pieces and sippy cup, then unpack the laptop and check the e-mail. Meanwhile, the cutest baby in the world sits in the stroller and wonders where the daddy went.

Coffee Shop for Knitters

I don't know what the coffee tastes like, but this is a gathering place for knitters to talk about what they are doing. I came across it following some links, because I am testing the waters learning to knit. It must be more addictive than coffee.
